Get into The Spirit

This year sees the release of a number of films based on graphic novels, including The Spirit. There are a number of Hollywood stars in this comic book film including Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes and Samuel L Jackson. The film is based on the 1940s Will Eisner series about a rookie cop who comes to terms with his amazing power. Mendes said: "One of my biggest complaints is that the female characters in a lot of comic book films are damsels in distress, or a version of them. "So here, that is not the case, we got to really just be independent. "We are the backbone of the film, and I love that." The film is made by Frank Miller the man who created Sin City and 300. The Spirit is out in cinemas now.
