Bayern Munich presented their new recruits in their new jerseys for their new team photos on Wednesday (August 2). Germany World Cup striker Lukas Podolski had made his debut with the team on Monday (July 30) against Japan's Urawa Reds as Bayern suffered a 1- defeat against the hosts in Tokyo. But despite the result, Podolski, whose goals helped hosts Germany reach the World Cup semi-finals, looked sharp on his debut and twice came close to scoring for Bayern. Podolski had come from FC Cologne, but Bayern has newcomers from further afield. Belgian national team captain Daniel van Buyten has also been signed to strengthen the Bavarian's defence. But while Podolski grinned in his new shirt at the front of the Bayern team, rumours persisted that British popsinger Robbie Williams might show up to take his place as the new star. Williams management has spoken to the team and arranged for him to be able to train with them while the singer is in Munich for his concerts.
