For most people their wedding day is already a very special date, but dozens of copleGetting married to most is a very special date anyway, but dozens of couples in Germany queued for hours on Monday (January 8) for the chance to make that date just a bit more special. At the Berlin registry office in the Western district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, couples waited hours before opening for a chance to sign up to get married on July 7, 2007. "Many couples just want an especially inventive wedding date. And 07/07/07 is just one of those famous multi-digit numbers with all digits identical. And seven is also a magic number with very positive connotations, that might be a reason also for many couples. Plus this date happens to be on a Saturday," registrar Sylvana Brenke told Reuters. Statistically, marriages happening on special dates such as 07/07/07, do not last longer than any other marriage, Brenke continued. "Statistically, those marriages do not last longer than others. But I do not believe they are shorter than other marriages, either," she said. Silvana Vogt and Mike Maiwald met on July 07 in 2004. "This is why it was always clear that we would get married on July 7 2007. Our little girl here was on the way and we now want to be a real family with just one surname so the next baby can come along", Silvana Vogt told Reuters. Not only the date but also the place of their wedding will be special: The couple plan to have a ceremony in the restaurant of the radio tower - 52 metres above ground level. It is the place where they met when Silvana was working there as waitress. QUIRKY
