Actors, Adam Sandler and Kevin James, joked their way through a news conference in Berlin Wednesday (September 5) on the eve of the German premier of their new film, "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry." In this comedy, two straight, single, New York fire-fighters - Chuck Levine (Sandler) and Larry Valentine (James) - pretend to be a gay couple in order to receive domestic partner benefits. To research their roles as fire-fighters, Sandler and James underwent fire-fighter training at the Inglewood Fire Academy in Southern California where they perfected their hose lays, chopping technique, and search-and-rescue skills. To authenticate their role as a gay couple, Sandler and James spent an evening out at a number of gay clubs. "We thought we would blend right in and we thought. First we were concerned that we would be hit on and how do we turn these people down. What do we say and when do we let them know that we are not gay. But as soon as we walked in, I don't think anyone came near us the entire night. So it was never a problem. I guess we were either the ugliest," said Kevin James at the press conference. While filming the movie, Sandler and James, had a memorable moment - they accidentally locked lips, causing each to react differently. "And the fact is that there was one scene in the movie where we had to get closer and closer and we almost kissed. And we wanted to get as close as possible so the audience thought we were going to kiss and the director Dennis Dugan got so caught up. He was supposed to scream out 'Now!' and we would stop. He didn't scream out 'Now!' and our lips hit. I laughed it off and Kevin just stared at me for an hour madly in love. It was funny. He couldn't shake it," chuckled Adam Sandler. Both actors have a history of drawing big laughs from fans. Adam Sandler has played in such films as "Billy Madison," "Happy Gilmore," and "The Wedding Singer." Kevin James is best known for the television series, "The King of Queens." "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry" opens across Germany on September 27.
