02/04/08 Filmed and edited by Jim Alred After months of investigation, the Walker County Sheriff's department has finally made an arrest in the case of a missing dispatcher. Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson, in an late-afternoon news conference Monday, said the time was simply "right" for arresting Sam Parker. "Nothing has changed," Wilson told reporters. "This is the right time. The charges today were based on a collection of evidence from day one." Parker was arrested Monday morning at his home and booked into the Walker County jail on one count of murder. After being booked, he was transported to the Floyd County Jail. "This was simply because (Parker) was a law officer who made arrests here. So we did this as a precaution." Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said Sam Parker, 52, was arrested at his residence by Walker County Sheriff's Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and FBI at 9:55 a.m. Monday. Mr. Parker was fired from his job at the LaFayette Police Department when investigators, searching his locker at work, found plastic explosives material.
