FSX Simulation of the US Airways 1592 Crash Landing into NYC's Hudson River, Piloted by Captain C. Sullenberger

This animation was created using Microsoft Flight Simulator X and is a recreation of the US Airways Flight 1549 crash landing into New York City's Hudson River. The NTSB's final report won't be released for some time, but based on all the available evidence it seems clear that the Airbus A320 struck a dense flock of large birds causing catastrophic damage to both jet engines. A total loss of all power is extremely rare for modern jet aircraft. It quickly became clear that returning to La Guardia or any other nearby airport was out of the question. The only remaining option was to perform an emergency landing in the Hudson river, right next to one of the most populated cities in the world. Such water landings rarely succeed, but the Capitan Sullenberger executed the maneuver perfectly. Not only did this brave move save the lives of all 155 souls on board, but potentially scores more in the populated regions directly below the 1549's flightpath that Friday afternoon. This video is dedicated to Captain Chesley Sullenberger and the crew of flight 1549 for their heroic efforts in turning this potential tragedy into a truly amazing story.
