Four held over gang shooting

Four held over gang shooting

Four men have been arrested over a multiple shooting at an inner city pub which left two men dead. Police investigating the shoot-out fear it could be part of ongoing gangland warfare. The two victims were killed at the scene and two other men suffered gunshot wounds at the Brass Handles pub in Salford, Greater Manchester. The killings occurred in the notorious Langworthy area of inner city Salford, a mix of high rise flats and terrace housing, much of which is boarded up. Residents said the attack on the pub was launched by a large gang of 'hoodies'. The pub was packed with customers watching Manchester United's football match on TV. Greater Manchester Police said the dead men, who have not been identified, were of mixed race while the two injured were white. They suffered serious injuries and are now undergoing treatment in hospital. Police are with them at the hospital. Senior officers would not rule out the possibility that the double shooting was related to gang warfare in Manchester. Crime gangs in Salford have clashed with gangsters from other parts of Manchester in the past. Officers are carrying out door-to-door inquiries last night and began examining CCTV footage. Detectives and forensic expert also carried out a detailed search of the crime scene, both inside the pub and on the waste ground outside.
