For a smoke-free Europe

Launched on 30 January 2007, the Commission's Green Paper 'Towards a Europe free from tobacco smoke' is a key feature of the Environment and Health Action Plan (2004'2010) in which the Commission explores legal mechanisms and health initiatives to promote the goal of a smoke-free Europe. Includes case studies and interviews with key figures from various EU Member States including: · Shots of and interviews in a pub in Ireland · Shots of and interviews in Electrabel, Belgium, a company which has invested in a no-smoking programme for its employees · Shots of and interviews in a restaurant in Italy · Shots of concrete examples of EU actions on tobacco control e.g. cigarette packs with pictorial warning; no smoking signs in workplaces; HELP TV campaign and website; shots of European Youth Manifesto conference · Interview with Philip Tod, spokesman for Health, European Commission · Interview with Gerard Hastings, Director of Cancer Research at UK Centre for Tobacco Control Research, Stirling, Scotland · Interview with Rudy Demotte, Minister for Social Affairs and Public Health, Belgium
