Foot and Mouth disease: Temporary control zone set up in West Midlands

A temporary control zone has been set up around a premises in the West Midlands as officials investigate another suspected case of foot and mouth. Defra said the control zone was around a site near Solihull, just to the south of Birmingham international airport. A spokesman said the move was a precautionary measure: the disease has not been confirmed at the site and tests on animals there are continuing. Control zones remain in place around three farms in Surrey which had the virus.
