European arrest warrant

The European Arrest Warrant will finally be approved during the Summit of Laeken by the 15 Member States after the Italian government agreed with the proposal of the Presidency. The European arrest warrant will complete the international arrest warrant, facilitating procedures within the 15 Member States. The Belgian magistrate, Damien Vandermeersch, well known as the judge who investigates the files of Pinochet or Rwanda, explains the technicalities of the warrant and its implications as far as the international arrest is concerned.
