Every day across the country we generate enormous amounts of rubbish - packaging, food, cans, bottles and much more - and it all ends in landfill sites. These huge tips absorb our seemingly endless amounts of waste. But while it's out of sight - it shouldn't be out of mind - we're running out of space and decomposing rubbish creates methane - a gas that adds to climate change. The solution might bel an end to the weekly rubbish collection. A report says fortnightly rubbish collections don't necessarily create health hazards. The new Government-commissioned research states that if waste is properly wrapped there shouldn't be any hygiene concerns.
