Homegrown star Idris Elba is keeping it in the family, playing the lead in new flick Daddy's Little Girls.Idris, who was born and raised in Hackney, east London, cut his teeth way back in the day on UK soap Family Affairs.Since then, the 34-year-old father-of-one has had stints on a number of hit US TV shows, including The Wire, as well as carving out a niche for himself in Hollywood.The premise for Daddy's Little Girls is the age-old classic of rich chick meets poor guy.It also stars Night Stalker actress Gabrielle Union as a successful tough-talking lawyer who eventually falls for the charms of struggling lone parent Monty, played by Idris.Idris will also be appearing on the big screen in 28 Weeks Later - the sequel to the 2002 Brit horror flick 28 Days Later - which also stars Robert Carlyle and Catherine McCormack and is due to be released in early summer.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
