Queen Sonja of Norway visited the Giza pyramids and the Sphinx on Saturday (October 28). The Queen is in Egypt on a four-day visit to attend celebrations marking the 100-year commemoration of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's death. On Sunday (October 29) the queen is scheduled to travel to the port city of Alexandria, where she will attend the inauguration of a sculpture exhibition entitled "Ibsen's Women" at the Alexandria Library (Bibliotheca Alexandrina) at which she will unveil a bust of Ibsen. Queen Sonja has been married to Norway's monarch, King Harald V, since 1968. King Harald V ascended the throne in 1991 following the death of his father. Both Queen Sonja and the King will turn 70 next year.
