Dustin Hoffman has spoken of the instinctive rapport he enjoyed with Emma Thompson. The US legend stars opposite Thompson in Last Chance Harvey, playing an American visitor to London who strikes up a friendship with a British woman after a chance meeting at Heathrow Airport. Writer-director Joel Hopkins crafted the script around the two actors and gave them the freedom to improvise their scenes together Hoffman said: "Most of the time in this film we aren't really sure where the scene is going or what the other one is going to say. "The agreement was that...we could throw each other. We could say something that would kickstart something in the other. "Somehow we know each other in a way that's hard to express, at least when we're working together. We both agreed that it would never work in life."
