The “Play House” used to be a place of imagination and creativity, where actors perfected their craft and staged numerous plays. When the plays stopped, the large multi-storied building fell into disrepute and is now a place where prostitutes work and live, selling their bodies for money. Many of the women working at the “Pila House” were abducted, lured or forced into a life of prostitution and unable to escape. Others entered the “voluntarily” to feed families or just for the money. Into this atmosphere of pimps, lusty police offices, drug addicts, single mothers and prostitutes comes the beautiful Kasturibai from Benaras. She wants to make big money in the call-girl and escort services world, and rise above the seedy vice world of Pila House prostitutes. She realises she needs to learn English and is adopted by Masterji, a young man who offers to teach her for free. As Kasturi and Masterji spend time together, the gradually fall in love and subsequently decide to marry. Madhav, a generous waiter at the house, secures Kasturbai a red Saree to wear on her wedding day and escorts her to the spot where she is to meet Masterji, wishing her goodbye and good luck in her new life. When Masterji arrives, Kasturi quickly learns of his plans for her are – and none of the plans include married life.
