The cast of Doctor Who have introduced new assistant Freema Agyeman as it's confirmed the show will be back for a fourth series.Executive producer Russell T Davies and David Tennant joined Freema for the premiere, where it was revealed the hit show would return to TV screens next year.Davies said: "It's been announced tonight that series four is officially existing. I'm very excited, but we have known for ages."However, he refused to confirm if Tennant would reprise the role of the Doctor. When asked, Tennant said: "Do you know how many times I have been asked that question? Do you know how many times I have answered it?"Freema Agyeman will play Martha Jones in the third series with Tennant by her side. The actress steps into the shoes of Billie Piper, but reckons her character Martha Jones stands up in her own right. She said: "Martha's a little bit more independent, a little bit more academic....she lives alone, and she's very nearly qualified as a doctor, and that would have taken years studying."Rose was living at home and worked in a shop. And you got the feeling that she was a little bit disgruntled, or searching for something in her life."And when the Doctor comes along he helps her find what she's been looking for. With Martha you kind of get the sense that he comes along and interrupts!"Tennant showered praise on his new assistant, saying: "The big story is Freema Agyeman is Martha Jones which is the big event of series three."He continued: "Finishing one relationship is always difficult, but then you plunge right into another one, that's what I find works best."Celebrities who attended the London premiere included Jonathan Ross, Jo Whiley and Matt Lucas's partner Kevin McGee, who revealed that Matt would love to be the Doctor.Kevin said: "I think he would like to be the Doctor and, yes, I can see him playing that role."He (Matt) would love to be in Doctor Who and I would love him to as well."© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
