A touch of Disney magic has descended on Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital as the film company announced plans to help raise £10 million towards its redevelopment.Walt Disney bigwigs flew in along with Mickey and Minnie Mouse for the launch of the fundraising scheme, which will help cover the costs of a £170m medical centre planned for the next five years.President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger said: "It is truly an honour to be here and see the fantastic work this hospital does. It is also wonderful for our company to be able to help just a little bit."The importance of the world-renowned hospital's work was brought home when four children receiving treatment there arrived to meet the two Disney characters and pose for pictures. One of the four was 14-month-old Ollie Drew, accompanied by parents Edwina and Mark from Exeter, who is the only child in the UK currently on an artificial heart.Cystic Fibrosis sufferer Isabelle Brown, 12, Angelina Vidler, five, who has the rare cancer Wilms tumour and fellow cancer sufferer Ollie Webb, six, were also part of the small group of patients at the launch.Isabelle, from Hemel Hempstead, said: "It is brilliant, the staff are all fun and all really kind.
