Diana jury to see further CCTV images
The jury at the inquest into the death of Princess Diana is set to see further new CCTV footage from the night of the fatal 1997 crash.The five men and six women will see scenes from cameras inside the Ritz Hotel in Paris, capturing Diana and Dodi Fayed's final movements.On Wednesday, jurors were shown images of the couple in a hotel lift just before 7pm on the day before the fatal crash in the Pont de l'Alma underpass at around 00.20am on August 31.The Princess, 36, who looks happy and relaxed, is smiling as she stands next to Dodi, 42. They are also captured entering the Ritz through the revolving doors shortly before 10pm.Meanwhile, it was revealed that Diana was on the contraceptive pill when she died.But, coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker told the jury concerning allegations the Princess was expecting a baby: "It is likely that pregnancy is not a matter that can be proved one way or the other in scientific terms in this case."He also raised the issue of the problems surrounding blood samples and other tests taken from the body of driver Henri Paul.The Met's Inspector Paul Carpenter talked the jury through scores of images showing the paparazzi melee surrounding the couple that night.He revealed there were 43 separate cameras in the hotel in Paris, from where Diana and Dodi set off on their final journey, and that 31 were relevant to the inquiry.There are also images of the couple entering and leaving the hotel's Imperial Suite on the first floor. Dodi and Claude Roulet, the assistant to the president of the Ritz, also make trips to nearby jeweller Repossi.Mr Roulet returns carrying a bag - reported to contain two rings including one from the "Dis-Moi Oui" range, which translates as "Tell Me Yes". He takes the bag to Dodi in his suite.Dodi's father, Mohamed Al Fayed, claims his son and the Princess were preparing to announce their engagement but were murdered by MI6 under the orders of the Duke of Edinburgh because they believed the Princess was pregnant.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
