Dennis Hopper battling prostate cancer

It has been confirmed Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper is battling prostate cancer. His manager says the 73-year-old is having treatment at the University of Southern California. The actor was checked into hospital earlier this month with apparent flu-like symptoms, but Sam Maydew has confirmed it is much more serious. The Easy Rider and Blue Velvet star has been forced to cancel his appearance at an exhibition in Australia of his artwork and photography. In a statement he said he was disappointed at not being able to travel to Melbourne, but was fully focused on his treatment.
