DEFENCE: Veteran Harry Patch launches poppy appeal in Weston Super Mare

The last surviving veteran to fight in the trenches during the First World War has launched his local poppy appeal. Harry Patch, who's one hundred and nine, paid tribute to his fallen colleagues at the commemorations today in Weston-super-Mare. A cannon blast signalled the start of the event, together with a flypast of historical planes.
