In Tai Chi class we have learned to breathe for the different organs. These should be done sitting in a relaxed position, but back straight. Here are the 5 important ones: 1) The Heart -- one hand in lap, one hand across heart, thumb & ring fingers touching (in an O). Breathe deeply, from abdomen, hold about 5 secs. Breathe out slowly with a haaaa.Repeat 7 times. 2) The Kidneys -- Palms of hands on lower back, fingers pointing towards spine ( in other words hands over kidney area) Breathe deeply, hold, then breathe out with a sssss. Repeat 6 times 3) The Liver -- Hands in lap, breathe deeply, hold, then breathe out with an oooo.Repeat 8 times. 4) The Lungs -- Right hand over left palm ( back of rt over palm of left) Breathe deeply, raising hands to chest level. As you breathe out turn hands over ( left palm over rt. back) & push down, breathe out with an eeee. Repeat 9 times 5) The Stomach -- Breathe deeply., hold, then breathe out with an ommm. Repeat 5 times. These particular exercises help cleanse the organs of toxins. The counts can be done in multiples of that number. Ideally deep breathing should be done several times daily.
