Dad was taping Cyn singing without she knowing about it. Disney's made for TV movie, High School Musical , follows Troy, the popular high school basketball star, and Gabriella, a shy bookworm, who discover their shared passion for singing. When they both try out for the lead roles in East High's school musical, it sends their peers into a tizzy. The "jocks" and the "brainiacs" hatch plots to keep Troy and Gabriella from sharing the stage in an attempt to restore order to the social cliques. Troy and Gabriella's defiance of socially accepted norms inspires other students to step forward with their own hidden talents. High School Musical is a Disney Channel Original Movie about basketball star Troy Bolton who goes to high school at East High in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While at a ski lodge on winter break, Troy meets brainiac Gabriella Montez. Both learn they have a love of singing and an interest in each other. When Troy gets back to East High, he realizes Gabriella is a new student at his school. The two end up trying out for the school musical, but when they get called back for the lead roles against the school's top theatrical talents Ryan and Sharpay Evans, the brother and sister will stop at nothing to get Troy and Gabriella out of the running.
