As many as 4,000 women, many from Eastern Europe, could be victims of human traffickers forced to work in Britain's sex trade. According to the United Nations the UK is a major destination for traffickers. Now the police have have opened a country-wide centre to combat such gangs. The Sheffield based unit will not only focus on cracking prostitution rings but will also investigate forced labour, slavery and child smuggling. However, human rights organisations say Britain should be taking a more active role across Europe.
