Footballer Teddy Sheringham has denied giving the police false details about a speeding offence. Mr Sheringham's lawyer said he 'categorically denied' allegations and was helping the police. The former West Ham and England striker was arrested last month on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. Police say they are investigating a number of cases where people caught speeding by roadside cameras falsely nominated someone else as the driver at the time of the offence. Two other footballers. Shaun Newton and Bobby Zamora, have been questioned about similar offences.
