A Church of England vicar has been sent to prison for five and a half years for sexually abusing young boys. The Church had been warned twice about the Reverend David Smith but failed to stop him grooming and molesting young male parishioners over a period of 30 years on holidays, day trips and even during sleep-overs at his vicarage in Somerset. Those who had raised their concerns about suspected abuse were assured the matter had been 'dealt with'. This is the second case in a week that the Anglican Church has been exposed for ignoring warnings that could have helped to protect children.
