Marc Quinn's controversial bronze sculpture of Kate Moss is being prepared for it's world premiere in the Netherlands. The statue shows Kate in a yoga position and has caused quite a stir among art critics worldwide. The work is the most famous piece of 'art' in the full-scale solo exhibition of Quinn's recent works. The Groningen Museum curator Sue-An van der Zijpp doesn't understand why there is such a fuss surrounding the statue as it is much tamer than other pieces if Quinn's work. She said: 'It's not common, but it's sort of within the reach of normal art history. But he (Quinn) used to work with blood, with DNA.' Quinn makes sculptures, spatial installations, photographs and paintings and has worked with a wide range of materials such as glass and marble, and more oddly blood, ice, bread and even DNA. In 2005, Quinn created the equally controversial statue Alison Lapper Pregnant, which went on display in Trafalgar Square in London.
