Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania have joined forces in the German-Baltic chamber of commerce which maintains offices in Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius. The organisation is an important link between export-oriented German industry and customer countries. It facilitates contacts, organises events and helps with legal questions. One focus of the German-Baltic chamber of commerce is renewable energy, where German industry can offer technical knowl-how. Up to now, most electricity for the Baltic region has been supplied by Soviet-era power stations, so the need for alternative sources of energy in the coming years is especially great. MADE IN GERMANY reporter Karl Harenbrock presents the work of the German-Baltic chamber of commerce and accompanies a group of Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian entrepreneurs on a shopping trip to German companies, where they hope to learn about techniques in the production of electricity from renewable energy sources.
