Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of VJ Day

On the 15th August 2005 veterans of the Far East conflicts of the Second World War (WW2) were guests of the London Borough of Bromley (UK) at a special event to commemorate the 60th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory in Japan). The conflicts in the far east (often called "The Forgotten War") continued for 3 months after hostilities ceased in Europe but finally came to a conclusion a few days after the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This video includes a Service of Commemoration, and interviews by TV presenter Andrew Bernard with a former, highly decorated RAF pilot, a Malaysian nurse who experienced terrible personal horrors and a resident of the area who's family gave help and support to shipwrecked and injured allied soldiers. The veterans and members of local service organisations, including the British Legion, were entertained by an "Andrews Sisters" tribute group.
