Republicans swept governors’ races in New Jersey and Virginia as voters concerned about rising jobless rates and record home foreclosures punished Democrats. New Jersey's Democratic Governor Jon Corzine lost to Republican Christopher Christie while Republican Bob McDonnell beat Democrat Creigh Deeds in Virginia.
