China to join Somali piracy fight

The announcement came a day after multinational forces rescued a Chinese crew from pirates attempting to hijack their vessel off the Yemen coast. Several Chinese ships are among scores attacked in the last few months in the busy shipping lanes of the Gulf. The Security Council this week stepped up efforts against Somali piracy, authorising countries to pursue the raiders on land.
