Colombian pop-star Shakira met with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet at the presidential palace in Santiago, Chile just a day after thrilling her fans at a concert in the Chilean capital. Bachelet greeted Shakira and the two met with Chilean press. Shakira, who is active with UNESCO campaigns aimed at easing the suffering of underprivileged Latin American youth, said that education and affection were the best methods to help keep kids off the streets. "The best way to get out kids off on a good foot today is through education, protecting them and giving them all the love they need and not letting them work in the streets. In Latin America, there are 40 million children and young adults that work in the streets," Shakira said the press in Santiago. After speaking the media, Bachelet and Shakira went out on a balcony where hundreds of screaming fans yelled and applauded. The previous night, Shakira played an electrifying show over an hour and half, playing 16 songs in front of some 12,000 fans at Santiago O'Higgins Park. Tonight Shakira will play an even larger show at Santiago's National Stadium. The 52,000 tickets are already sold out and fans paid up to 360 U.S. dollars to the pop sensation.
