Children died of poisoning

Children died of poisoning

The two British children killed as they slept in a Corfu hotel room died from carbon monoxide poisoning.Greek officials confirmed the news as their mother Sharon Wood was taken to see the bodies of Christianne, seven, and Robert, six.Medical staff are still waiting to break news of their deaths to their father, who is recovering in Corfu.Doctors have decided not to tell Neil Shepherd, 38, and his girlfriend Ruth Beatson, 27, until their health improves, a senior police officer has said.Chief of Security Police Dimitris Bineris said the couple have been taken off ventilators but remain seriously ill at the General Hospital of Corfu.Mr Shepherd is in extreme shock while Ms Beatson was well enough yesterday to be able to speak briefly with her parents, who travelled from England to be at her bedside.Investigators will not speak to the couple until they have consulted a psychologist. The couple, from Horbury, West Yorkshire, were found unconscious by a cleaner in their holiday bungalow on Thursday morning.Mr Shepherd's two children were found dead in the same room.
