Cher is getting ready to turn back time and return to the stage as the new headliner at the legendary Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. The comeback will see the veteran pop star perform four times a week at the glitzy venue from May.Cher, 61, finished her Living Proof : Fairwell Tour in April 2005 bidding her fans goodbye after nearly three years of touring and announcing she was stepping down from the live circuit. But it looks like the singer is not ready to give up just yet and is preparing for the new show which will feature 18 dancers and aerial artists. After much speculation Cher finally announced she will be replacing Celine Dion as the top act at the mega casino. But Cher revealed it was Caesar's Palace which first approached her about the idea while she was still in the midst of her world tour. She said: "They came to us, because Celine was leaving, and they knew that she was leaving. I was still on tour. I wasn't off yet."I knew that I was going to have such a long time, so that I thought 'Oh, I'm really enjoying this, I'll really enjoy to go do that.' So it seemed to give me enough time to recover, and then enough time to think, 'Ooo, I'm itchy, I want to go do something."The Farewell Tour consisted of 325 shows and grossed more than £125 million. It started in Canada, and played across Australia and in 28 European countries. The songstress first hit the music scene in the early sixties when she and Sonny Bono became a duo.Since her debut in 1964, Cher alone has sold over 200 million records worldwide.© Independent Television News Limited 2008.
