New Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is spending his first day at work trying to ensure the club captain does not leave Stamford Bridge. The Italian says he does not want the to lose John Terry, who is the subject of considerable interest from Manchester City. City have offered £30 million for the England captain and offered to pay him in excess of £150,000 a week. Terry is now under pressure to reassure Chelsea he has no interest in a move, on the day Ancelotti is presented to the media as the club's new manager. Ancelotti will oversee the first pre-season training session at Cobham and is expected to seek a meeting with Terry where he will ask for reassurance from the captain that he remains committed to the club. Meanwhile, Chelsea are poised to complete the £18m signing of Yuri Zhirkov from CSKA Moscow, after the left-winger flew to London. He is due to have a medical and, if he passes, he will become the first signing of the Ancelotti era.
