Chad admits killing in Sudan

The Darfur crisis could grow after Chad's government admitted forces entered Sudan's territory and killed several Sudanese soldiers.A minister said Chadian soldiers were pursuing rebels who crossed the border and then came into contact with Sudanese soldiers.Sudan has condemned the raid, saying 17 soldiers were killed and has reportedly summoned the Chad ambassador.The violence in Sudan's Darfur region has been devastating with an estimated 200,000 people dead and 2.5 million forced into refugee camps.The violence now appears to be spilling into neighbouring Chad.The UN says 400 people have been killed in Chad during cross-border raids by Sudanese Janjaweed fighters responsible for much of the violence in Darfur.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
