Chace Crawford dances into Kevin bacon's footsteps

Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford will play the lead in a remake of classic '80s dance movie Footloose. The original 1984 film made a star of the young Kevin Bacon. But Crawford, who plays Nate Archibald in the hit teen drama, only accepted the role of rebellious dancer Ren McCormack after fellow heart-throb Zac Efron pulled out. Efron said he wanted to concentrate purely on acting after singing and dancing his way through the High School Musical franchise. Hayden Panettiere from Heroes and Miley Cyrus are among the starlets who have been linked to the role of Chace's love interest Ariel Moore.
