British actress Carey Mulligan admits says she is still pinching herself after landing her first lead role in An Education. Mulligan has had rave reviews, an appearance on the David Letterman show and even praise from Editor-In-Chief of US Vogue Anna Wintour since starring in the 1960s drama. The 24-year-old plays Jenny, a teenager who falls for 30-something David after he offers her a lift home. Carey, however, does not think she would have been seduced by an older man, saying: "I don't think I would have got in the car. I think she's bolder than I was." The actress said she loved the period styling and described her Audrey Hepburn-esque transformation as "like getting a makeover". Emma Thompson also stars as a headmistress, while Alfred Molina plays Jenny's father. Critics have heaped praise on the feature, which is directed by Lone Scherfig and based on a memoir by Lynn Barber, with many predicting the cast may be in line for awards.
