Wildfires have killed one person and forced 10,000 people to flee from their homes in northern California.The state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection confirmed the death, but did not provide any details.In the town of Concow, over 50 homes were burned to the ground and in the nearby town of Paradise, some thousands of residents were forced to evacuate their homes.Officials said the unprecedented fire season, fuelled by drought and 100 degrees Farenheit temperatures, had seen the most fires burning at any one time in recorded California history.Most of the blazes began during a massive lightning storm on June 21 that sparked 800 wildfires.Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger ordered an additional 2,000 National Guard troops to help firefighting efforts around the state, while President George W Bush scheduled a visit to the state next week to survey the damage.
