Bush's Barney stars in Christmas video

Americans have been treated to the annual White House "Barney Cam" video starring US President George W Bush's pet dog.The film features Barney the black scottish terrier venturing around the White House with members of the Bush family. The White House began this Christmas tradition shortly after the attacks on Washington and New York in September 2001, when tours of the White House were temporarily suspended. The tradition of making a yearly video showing the White House grounds and interior through the eyes of the First Dog continued in 2007 so that families all over the country can see the White House during the holiday season. This year's Barney Cam video theme was "America's National Parks."Mr Bush asks his dog: "Did you know that the White House grounds are a National Park? Sure are. One of almost 400 parks all over the country."Sure Barney, you and Miss Beasley (another White House dog) can be junior park rangers if you want to, but you're sure going to have to learn about the National Parks if you want to be a junior park ranger."And Barney, if I'm not mistaken, you've already got a big job to do right here at the White House with the Christmas decorations."There is a brief cameo appearance from former prime minister Tony Blair, a close friend of Mr Bush, who sends best wishes and congratulations to Barney.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
