A 15-year-old girl who was attacked by a gang of girls at her school after winning two awards for her academic achievements fears she could be attacked again. Aspiring model Danielle Price was treated in hospital for facial injuries after the attack at Llangatwg Comprehensive in Neath, South Wales. South Wales Police launched an investigation into the assault, which happened during a morning break at the school last Friday. A 15-year-old girl suspended over the attack is understood to be returning to classes. Danielle, a Year 10 pupil, was targeted by the bullies shortly after being presented with the awards during the morning assembly for coming top of her class in German and humanities. She said that she was worried 'because it could happen again, even worse maybe'. But she also added that she planned to ignore the girl 'and hopefully the teachers will deal with her'. Her mother, Viv, a hospital support worker, said that her daughter had been 'lured' into a trap by the gang. She said: 'This group of about seven girls were shouting at her and she thought they wanted to congratulate her. 'But one of the girls grabbed her round the neck and punched her. Her nose was bleeding and her eyes were swollen. She had to go to hospital and had her eyelids glued. 'The girl had rings on her fingers and they cut all over her face. 'I think it was jealousy. There's been a few little things. She's good at school and she's good at sport and she's been doing modelling shots so I think when she got the awards it pushed the girl over the edge.' Mrs Price, from Glynneath, Neath, reported the assault to police. The mother of two said she was impressed with the school's swift decision to suspend the girl, but is worried about how her daughter would react to seeing the Year 11 pupil who attacked her. 'It's knocked her confidence. But she's going to carry on and not let the bullies win. But if there's any more problems I will have to pull her out of the school and have her study at home. Something terrible could happen if it's allowed to carry on,' she said. The attack comes just a week after 15-year-old Natashia Jackman was attacked with a pair of scissors at Collingwood College in Camberley, Surrey. And last month Shanni Naylor, 12, needed 30 stitches to her face after she was slashed with a pencil sharpener blade during a lesson at her Sheffield school.
