Building Roads – a German Construction Engineer in Angola

Helmut Gauff and his team have been commissioned to oversee major infrastructure projects in Angola, funded by China. A seasoned engineer with years of experience in Africa, Helmut Grauff is supervising the construction of 380 kilometres of road in Angola, costing 400,000 US dollars a kilometer, built by Chinese workers. He maintains friendly links with his Chinese counterparts, so that nobody "loses face", as he notes. Karl Harenbrock was in Angola.
