Troubled star Britney Spears has been released from hospital a week after being admitted for psychiatric tests. The unexpected move meant Spears was able to slip out of the medical facility quietly with only a small team of security and return to her LA mansion. But the star was met with yet another paparazzi frenzy when she left her house, with several photographers surrounding her black Mercedes and pursuing her across the city.It was not immediately clear why Spears was released but it is thought doctors no longer considered her a danger. It had earlier been reported that the star begged her father to let her go home. The move comes one day after court papers were made public containing accusations by the pop star's mother, Lynne Spears, that her on-off manager, Sam Lutfi, had drugged her in a bid to take control of her life.Lynne Spears accuses Lutfi of several things, including moving into her home, trying to take control of her finances and getting the paparazzi to report to him.Lutfi has now been issued with a restraining order which bans him from coming within 250 yards of the troubled star, her LA home, her family members or the hospital she is staying in since being admitted for psychiatric evaluation.Meanwhile, Britney's father has temporarily been put in charge of the singer's assets including her LA home.A judge has appointed a psychiatrist to determine if Spears is capable of understanding the legal proceedings around her.The 26-year-old chart-topping singer has seen her personal life descend into turmoil since her divorce from Kevin Federline in 2006.She hospitalised in early January for a mental evaluation after a row involving the custody of her children. She was discharged after a brief period and then went back last week for another psychiatric evaluation.© Independent Television News Limited 2008.
