Britney plays receptionist in TV sitcom

Britney Spears will be playing a doctor's receptionist in the US sitcom How I Met Your Mother, according to reports.The 26-year-old's character falls for architect Ted Mosby, played by Josh Radnor.The show's creator Craig Thomas told a US magazine that representatives for the pop star had approached the CBS network expressing interest in the programme.He said: "They said she was looking for a small part on a funny show, and she checked out our show and liked it."Mr Thomas also said that Spears had accepted the part a day after reading the script and "seemed to fit right in" at an early rehearsal."She was having a good time. She was laughing. And it's a very sweet, romantic episode, so the vibe in the room was just very fun," he said.Filming has begun on the episode which is due to be screened in the US on March 24.© Independent Television News Limited 2008.
