British Academy Television Awards - Part 2 of 2

Sunday 20th April 2008 Palladium, London A lovely day for a red carpet affair. I queued from 6am for this annual celebration of UK's TV talent. The fans waited in line most of the day until security fixed up the barriers and let us in. Well organised and not pressingly overcrowded. Mid-morning I mentioned to my fan mate that sandwiches would be nice and ten minutes later several brown paper bags of bacon sandwiches arrived. Was it coincidence or do they lip-read fans as they queue? - you decide. There were so many faces on display when things got going at 5pm that it was really hard to capture them all and, dear viewer, as you see the piece is in two parts to accommodate the plethora. The stars were very good to the fans, signing and posing - no board signing though. I even managed a few autographs myself while filming with great difficulty, the pushing was so bad. The rain held off until the very moment the last face had passed. Coincidence or did they have a pact with the rain genies? -- you decide...Great gig.
