Brit stars Tom Wilkinson and Dame Eileen Atkins have won prizes at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Wilkinson, 59, won best supporting actor in a mini-series or movie for his role as Benjamin Franklin in John Adams. Meanwhile, Dame Eileen won the award for outstanding supporting actress for her portrayal of Deborah Jenkins in the costume drama Cranford. But it was a bad night for other British stars at the glittering ceremony. Despite leading the pack with 14 nominations, Ricky Gervais failed to pick up any awards, while Dame Jude Dench missed out for her role in Cranford. The drama failed to wins awards for best mini-series and best writing, costumes, casting and art direction for a mini-series. Ralph Fiennes and Huge Laurie also lost out on prizes. The main winners of the night were Mad Men which won the Emmy for best drama and 30 Rock which was named leading comedy series for a second year running. Other winners at the 60th Emmy Awards included Glenn Close, Jeremy Piven and 30 Rock stars Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey.
