Boosting Economic Ties Between France & Israel, Sarkozy Takes To The Wheel

Visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy was presented with the Renault Megane electric car, at King David Hotel on Tuesday and got to sit behind the driving wheel with Israeli President Shimon Peres at his side. The two appeared to be discussing far more serious issues, oblivious of the crowd outside. The French automaker Renault has recently partnered with the Silicon Valley based Israeli start-up Project Better Place to supply electric-powered Renault Megane sedans to be sold in Israel starting in 2011. In turn, project better place will create a network of 500,000 battery charging and replacement stations throughout Israel, as well as charging points in public parking garages and along streets. Accompanying the French President to Israel are key French cabinet ministers as well as over 100 leading French businessmen who met with their Israeli counterparts to discuss ways of boosting economic ties between the two countries.06/24/08
