Big dino discovery in Mexico
The discovery of dinosaur remains in Mexico is helping open a window into life 72 million years ago.US, Mexican and Canadian scientists announced the discovery of Velafrons coahuilensis, a duck-billed dinosaur, last month.The fossilised remains were found in rugged, dry terrain in Rincon Colorado, north-central Mexico in the state of Coahuila, near the city of Saltillo.Paleontologist Martha Guillen said it is the most complete dinosaur ever found in Mexico.She said: "We have the most important elements, which is the skull which was identified."We have representations of all body parts. We have tail vertebras, we have nearly all the parts, so we are able to calculate that the Velafrons coahuilensis is 70 percent complete."It's hope the discovery will help shed light on life in the late Cretaceous Period on the southern tip of western North America.© Independent Television News Limited 2008.
