Attractions Salem VA - There is no shortage of things to see and do in Salem! From sporting events to arts and culture, the Salem Civic Center and the James E. Talla-ferro (Taliaferro) Sports and Entertainment Complex serve as the hub of activity here. You’ll find events like the Blue Ridge Music Festival, a two-day event featuring some of the biggest names in bluegrass and acoustic music… and concerts with the Roanoke Symphony and other performers held here. The Memorial Baseball Stadium serves as the home of our minor league baseball team, the Salem Avalanche, which is a Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros. The Salem Fair offers eleven days of wholesome family fun, featuring agricultural exhibits, crafts, food, games, carnival rides and free entertainment acts like racing pigs, clowns, and magicians.
