Attempted robbery at NY's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel

(NECN) - A security guard is left wounded after a brazen robbery attempt in New York's storied Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. It happened at a jewelry store in the lobby. Police say a man walked in, pulled out a gun and smashed two display cases. The security guard, a retired detective, confronted the man and two began wrestling. That's when three shots rang out, one of them hitting the security guard in the chest. Another hotel employee then tackled the suspect, who was taken into custody. The security guard is expected to survive.
