A frustrated author who felt publishers would not be able to recognise a good book has proven that many could not. As an experiment he sent off works written by nineteenth century novelist Jane Austen, with a few changes to bring them up to date. None of the companies approached was interested and one publisher, which publishes a paperback edition of Austen's works said it was not the right material for them. Only one publisher realised the chapters sent were actually Austen's work.
